Valentine’s Day Cake Pops
Cake Pops! I’ve been wanting attempt these. This looks fun– and they turned out really cute in this blog post I found tonite. Happy Valentine’s Day! cheers!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wondered how the heck you make those cute tiny cake pops. It was a mystery to me until I found the perfect and easy recipe. I decided my first attempt at this would be the night before Valentine’s Day for my coworkers and my husbands as well. I’m not sure this was the wisest decision considering I started at about 8pm (had errands to run before I could officially start) and wasn’t finished until about 12am. But it was worth it! Overall these were fun to make (would’ve been more fun if I wasn’t pressed for time) and super easy!
Here’s the “How To” so you can stun friends and family with your new found baking talent!
First you’ll need to choose your cake batter and your choice of icing. I went with Red Velvet with Cream Cheese frosting. I wanted to…

Chuao Chocolatier – Who Doesn’t Love Chocolate??

Valentine’s Day is always a good excuse to make a run to the chocolate shop. After all– who doesn’t love chocolate? I have to admit I have a total sweet tooth. I have to remind myself to “move away from the candy” and not eat the entire container of candy in one sitting. (As we speak, I am writing this blog post while I stare longingly at a red heart box filled with candy….) I was kind of hoping I’d find a few “bad ones”— no such luck– they are ALL good!!
As if that isn’t bad enough tonite I went on a short walk after work and found myself wandering around in the mall. With candy on the brain I figured why not write my blog post about some kind of candy?? Ah… so that being said I walked with purpose into Chuao Chocolatier in the Westfield UTC Mall. Oh yummy– what a delicious place!
I found everything from a Spicy Maya Brownie mix ($12.95) to wine. Pretty cool they sell the wine too. There was a divine table set up at the entrance with roses, red gift boxes filled with candy and ornate cards. If you need a quick gift this would be a perfect place to stop off during a lunch break and/or right after work on the way home.
Happy Valentine’s Day! And happy shopping!
Orange Possum – Hampton, IA – back again!
I love the Orange Possum in Hampton, Iowa! Tonite I wore the wispy gray wrap I purchased there in early January and just had to share. The weather here in San Diego has been slightly chilly and damp this weekend so my gray wrap from the Orange Possum was a perfect choice. I really like the lacy detail and the color is great with anything from a jean jacket to a t-shirt. I admit, this scarf is probably more well-suited to my California climate right now– I hear it’s super cold in Iowa right now. Stay warm– and shop at Orange Possum. It’s a fun place!

This past weekend when I was cruising thru the shopping in Ocean Beach I came across Lola Luna Boutique. I was thrilled when I walked in and saw the flowy tops and swingy sweaters– and the wall of shoes. (Better yet there was a table out front with $10 shoes. My dream!)
Lola Luna brings the latest cutting edge fashion into an affordable and casual shopping environment. Clothing, shoes, and accessories arrive weekly, giving shoppers great new styles to choose from. And of course it’s a good excuse to shop often!
Easy T-Shirt Transformation
This t-shirt is so cute I just had to share. I’m re-blogging from Thing-a-Day 2012.
Easy way to modify a t-shirt into something more fun. Cheers and make it a good weekend!
Here’s a simple solution to modify a T-shirt when the sleeves are rather large therefore revealing lingerie.
With the pencil, mark every 2 cm along the seam and then make small cuts. Pull the ribbon through the holes with the help of a safety pin. Tie in a bow.
Optional: decorate with buttons or use a contrasting ribbon. Or both!
PS. Pink for a new lovely weekend!
The Black Bead – Happy 19th Anniversary!

Lucky me– I received a surprise email from The Black Bead in Ocean Beach. This awesome shop is celebrating its 19th anniversary! I was the lucky recipient of a 20% off coupon. Woohoo!!
I purchased the light blue pendant pictured below for just $12 over the weekend. It will look great with summer dresses and t-shirts. As you can see from my photo– there are a lot of beads and jewelry supplies to choose from. This is one of those places you could spend hours in and totally lose track of time.
Happy shopping!!

Valentine’s Day deals…perfume… earrings… Oh Yum!
My favorite mall is Westfield UTC– it’s easy access to shop during my break at work and just a fabulous mall in general. Imagine my excitement when I came across the Retail section in todays San Diego Union Tribune and found such great deals to be had at the 11 Westfield Shopping Centers in the San Diego area.
Here is the link to the full set of deals for this week: www.utsandiego.com/malls0207 (these deals come out weekly on Tuesdays I plan to stay tuned!)
I noticed lots of Valentine’s Day type deals to be had this week– Ben Bridge Jewelry giving away chocolate with the purchase of a $99 diamond heart pendant thru February 14th and Forever 21 is offering free perfume with a $50 purchase. Best yet– Kay Jewelers is offering $90 diamond heart-shaped earrings for a mere $24.99!
Shopping in the Westfield malls never looked so good. Whether you’re shopping for someone else or on the look-out for a bit of your own retail therapy the deals are out there. Personally, I’m really thinking about those $24.99 earrings at Kay Jewelers.
From Trash to Treasure
I write a lot about dumpster diving. But what about the stuff you can find parked out in the alley near the dumpsters? Imagine my excitement when I spotted a cute little barrel type container sitting all lonely in the alley. Guess it didn’t make the cut for the dumpster! Lucky day for me.
Location of this “find”– somewhere in San Diego.
After a quick dusting the barrel looked great. It will be perfect on my patio as a plant holder.
