It’s all about Fab.com!!

When I went home for lunch today I had a wonderful surprise waiting for me– my shipment arrived from Fab.com.  What a nice way to start the week….

Check out the fun Birdy Blue design.  I’m not usually a big fan of “birds” but thiswispy scarf was too cute to pass up!

This should look good with a light sweater once the weather cools off.  This was my first order from Fab.com so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  My order arrived within 8 days of placement– I was originally quoted 14 days for delivery– always better to under promise and over-deliver I suppose.  As far as quality is concerned– I just ordered a scarf and you really can’t mess up something that simple. Would I order from this site again– YES!

By the way, I loved the “thx” card enclosed with my order. Even though it was stamped out with a generic pre-worded message– a nice thought nonetheless.  A company can’t really go wrong thanking customers!  Cheers and Happy Monday everyone….

….until next time….   -jody-

Happy Flip Flop Friday!

Wedding flip-flops? It never occurred to me these words could fit together in a sentence.  Maybe I’ve been wrong all this time….  read on….

Tonite I googled “flip-flops” to see what came up- you know, to inspire me to find something slightly interesting to write about for Flip Flop Friday. Then I saw the wedding flip-flops thing and just had to check it out. Really… flip-flops on your wedding day? Well, why not??!   (I found some really cute choice!)

Why bother with high heels? Havaianas, please…..

Some great websites to check out:  Etsy, wrapwithus.com; Bridalflipflops.com; Nordstrom; Macy’s… I could go on….

Happy Flip Flop Friday!  Cheers!

$7 Jeans–yessss!!

What could be better than a pair of fantastic $7 jeans? Maybe the good karma of knowing that I am “re-purposing” a perfectly good pair of jeans?? One less item in the landfill, right?

20120823-175023.jpg

And I thought $9 jeans were a bargain!  Imagine my delight when I found the 30% off rack at My Sister’s Closet in San Diego’s UTC neighborhood and found a pair of jeans that fit.  (I hate buying jeans and usually end up trying on 30+ pair before I find something that I even remotely like– then there is the issue of me getting home and trying them on again and instantly regretting the purchase…. back to the store….)

Good news here I actually LIKE these jeans! There’s still a slight chance I will make them into shorties– stay tuned…

Happy Shopping everyone. And remember to stay “green” and reduce, re-use, recycle whenever you can.  Thrift shopping is a perfect way to accomplish all three.  Cheers!

Fab.com – A fun way to shop online!

Pan Am Explorer $66

How fabulous is this vintage travel bag? I heard about this cool site from my hairdresser earlier this week and just can’t stop myself from shopping– from the comfort of my couch and wearing my pajamas and no make-up.

Fab.com is fashion on a budget.  The site features a daily mix of designers, exclusive designs, limited edition pieces and amazing offers up to 60% off retail.  The site has limited free membership and I was able to set up my “account” with the usual email address and password type thing. Very easy.

Birdy Blue by Printed Village $14.50

Just to let you know… it has taken me well over an hour to write this post because I keep SHOPPING…. yikes. I keep coming back to these scarves– so, you guessed it. I’m buying! Will keep you posted on shipping and quality.

Cheers!

Happy Flip Flop Friday!

Happy Flip Flop Friday! It looks like my favorite budget friendly store Old Navy has joined forces withTerracycle to help us all recycle our old flip flops. What a great idea.

Every time you send your old flip-flops to TerraCycle, you’ve done a green deed for Mother Nature by diverting waste from our landfills. To show our gratitude, for every shipment of about 25 pairs of flip-flops, or 50 individual flip-flops (about 18 pounds), you will receive exclusive coupons from Old Navy to distribute to the participants who helped you collect.

It’s totally free to participate in a TerraCycle Brigade. There are no signup or participation fees, and the shipping is covered by the program. Once you’ve joined the Flip-Flop Brigade, follow the steps below to earn your Old Navy coupons:

  1. Collect about 25 pairs, or 50 individual, flip-flops (all brands are accepted) and fill up a box or bag. Remember to always reuse a shipping box or bag and use eco-friendly padding as needed. To receive your Old Navy coupons, you must ship at least 18 lbs of flip-flops.
  2. Download a pre-paid shipping label from terracycle.com. Just visit your TerraCycle account online, and click “SHIP US YOUR WASTE”. You can print it out yourself or request a label from TerraCycle.
  3. Ship the box to TerraCycle by affixing the pre-paid postage label and dropping it off at a UPS location.

For more detailed information please check out the Flip-Flop Brigade FAQ.

It will take approximately 7 to 10 business days from the date your shipment is received for TerraCycle to process your package. Once processing is complete, you will receive your Old Navy coupons through  postal mail.

Download our helpful TerraCycle “Collect, Store and Ship Guide” for tips and tricks that will make the collection process simple and mess-free. Also check out our Flip-Flop Brigade Poster and Flip-Flop Brigade Thermometer Poster to help promote your efforts and keep track of your collections.

And… by practicing good recycling karma we can all buy more fun flip flops! You can get them at Old Navy for something like 2 pair/$5.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.  Bravo!

Brighton Collectibles – Great Products & Amazing Customer Service

Okay, my post tonite has nothing to do with thrift shopping. In search of a case for my iPad, I found myself cruising thru the mall.  No luck at the Apple store, Brookstone and Macy’s. It was my lucky night when I walked in the Brighton store. This was my first time shopping in this particular shop– and I went in out of desperation fairly sure I was going to strike out again anyway.  Check out the funky and practical travel case I found for the iPad. It has plenty of padding and a few extra pockets inside.

While I was there I couldn’t resist the urge to pick out a pair of small earrings. Priced at $18 and with a 1-year guarantee… excellent!

20120806-202344.jpg

While shopping at Brighton Collectibles, I experienced the most amazing customer care. Sales Partner “Laura” helped me choose my items and gave me an entire background on the company and the jewelry designers. Better yet, the merchandise gets registered when you purchase and has a 1-year guarantee.  When I was in there the woman behind me in line told me her Mom “collects” Brighton stuff and has been wearing it for years. She actually showed me a few things she has that still looked great. It’s always a good sign when not only the store salespeople are excited but the store customers are excited too.  For sure, I will be back for more at Brighton.  (I have my eye on some pretty hoop earrings and maybe a watch).  Cheers!

Guess how much??

Can you believe I found a super cute handbag for a mere $9.99 this weekend??!  In need of a little retail therapy, I stopped by my favorite thrift store “Like New” in San Diego’s Clairemont neighborhood.  I tried on a few jeans and dresses– no luck in that category. I was pretty much ready to admit defeat and walk out the door when I spotted this cute handbag hanging on a rack by the jeans. Better yet it was priced under $10.

It sounds like this shop has a new addition to their website too– you can shop online. They are in process of adding photos and inventory to the site for easy shopping and purchase.

Time for Summer Retail Therapy at My Sisters Closet

Hello Everyone!  As far as I’m concerned, there’s no therapy like retail therapy. What better way to beat the heat than in an air-conditioned store, right?!

Why not unwind with a little retail therapy at My Sister’s Closet located in the UTC neighborhood of San Diego.  My co-workers came back recently from a quick lunch break with several fantastic “finds” and were kind enough to let me take some photos. Look at this really cute Juicy Couture wallet that LD scored for a mere $17.

20120723-211306.jpg

This wallet is so cute… why hide it in a purse??!

20120723-211322.jpg

Okay…but wait, there’s more… KC scored three (yes, you read that right– three!) super amazing tops for a grand total of approximately $22 out the door.  These are bargain friendly tops that can take you from workplace to wine tasting on a budget.

20120723-211339.jpg

Hopefully there will be something left in the store for me….  🙂

20120723-211352.jpg

This blue top will be so pretty on a summer day. And the fluttery coral top pictured below is perfect to wear on a hot day.  Like I said, hopefully there will be a few cute things left for me.  Cheers– and happy shopping!
