Closet – Ocean Beach… style on a budget

Style on a budget for the budget conscious beach babe in all of us. Yes– that’s what I found when I stepped into the Closet this afternoon in Ocean Beach. The weather is starting to warm up and I was looking for some cute dresses and spring t-shirts. I was thrilled to find a table with colorful t-shirts priced 3/$10. And the dresses are priced at a wallet friendly $15 for those of us who can’t afford to shop at Bloomingdales regularly. Jewelry– they have lots of it– fit for any jewelry emergency you might be having. I found trendy & fun rings and bangles priced between $2 and $5.  Colorful summer shorties priced at $9.99 and jeans $15.99.

Cheap, easy, fun & disposable clothes– can’t beat that when the price is right. A word to the wise- be sure to try stuff on in this place especially if you have “womanly curves.” Some of the clothes are cut on the slim side.

Huge selection of shoes and handbags in this place too. I seriously stood in front of the “wall of shoes” for a good 20 minutes just taking it all in. I had a great time shopping here! It’s easy retail therapy for well under $20.

It was a rainy Wednesday last week when I was in Ocean Beach. The plan was to visit the Farmers Market but the weather got in the way of that. Lucky for me I found the amazing jewelry studio Blondstone on Newport Avenue. I’d walked by a couple of times but never went in. Again, lucky for me it was a rainy afternoon and a jewelry store was the perfect place to wait out a few sprinkles!

I found some beautiful necklaces and earrings. I have a weak spot for jewelry and always like the look of sea glass pendants. Also known as Mermaid Tears this is naturally tumbled sea glass– found locally and around the world. Blondstone captures these fine ocean gems in brilliant silver settings (again, a personal favorite of mine) as pendants, rings, bracelets and earrings.

Sol Wave— I found a really pretty necklace called the Sol Wave. Excellent design and comes in several sizes and price ranges. Below is my favorite Wave on Leather- Medium- $60. Great size to wear with summer t-shirts and dresses.

When you need a little retail therapy stop by miss match along Newport Avenue by the beach. Colors pop! There was a tray of fantastic bangles by the check-out marked $3. Excellent!

I walked thru the door and was dazzled by the beautiful accessories and cute handbags. I’m in the market for a new purse and this was a great place to “check out the sights.” You can see the amazing brown bag I found in the photo below.

The earrings and necklace selection was delightful. And colorful for that matter. I found an impressive selection of dressy clothes too. I really feel like I did experience retail therapy at miss match. (next time I have a bad day I’ll just go shopping. Bravo!)

This past weekend when I was cruising thru the shopping in Ocean Beach I came across Lola Luna Boutique. I was thrilled when I walked in and saw the flowy tops and swingy sweaters– and the wall of shoes. (Better yet there was a table out front with $10 shoes. My dream!)

Lucky me– I received a surprise email from The Black Bead in Ocean Beach. This awesome shop is celebrating its 19th anniversary! I was the lucky recipient of a 20% off coupon. Woohoo!!

I purchased the light blue pendant pictured below for just $12 over the weekend.  It will look great with summer dresses and t-shirts.   As you can see from my photo– there are a lot of beads and jewelry supplies to choose from. This is one of those places you could spend hours in and totally lose track of time.

Recently I visited The Black Bead located in the Ocean Beach area of sunny San Diego.  What a fabulous surprise!  I was in the market for a funky necklace of some kind– and lucky for me The Black Bead did not disappoint.

When I first walked in, the kaleidoscope  of colors and shapes invited me to spend more time exploring the treasure within.

The cases were lined with partitioned trays of beads, the walls awash with pattern– and there were even some stunning beauties dangling above my head.

It didn’t take long for me to pick out a Rhodonite stone and a black leather cord.  The gal behind the counter helping me shop was kind enough to do some quick research on the healing properties of Rhodonite.  (FYI… The mineral name Rhodonite was named after the Greek word rhodon which means “rose”.  Physically, rhodonite is an excellent wound healer. Aside from supporting liver functions to stimulate detoxification, it works great in limiting the damage of wounds, from small cuts to deep cuts.  In addition, it is said to bring emotional balance and confidence to one’s life.)

A twenty-dollar bill later… and I was out the door in my funky & beautiful rhodonite necklace… feeling better than ever.  For sure– I’ll be back again!
