Brighten up your summer patio!

20120605-220849.jpg

It’s not a secret– I love candles!  I have an abundance of tea-lights in my cupboard and was looking for a creative way to use them on my patio.  And, much to my surprise I found the black candle holder pictured on the right– in Target of all places. (I’ve really been trying to shop in small locally owned stores lately…)  But I must say spending $4.99 on this cute candle holder to use on my patio table was a pretty good deal.  The small heart-shaped candle holder on the left was purchased at the La Jolla Festival of the Arts many many years ago from a local artist– it also fits a tea light perfectly.  As far as the glass & black wire candle holder– I’ve had that so many years I can’t remember where it came from.  All together, this group is what will be out on my patio table.

Happy summer and may your patio table be bright!

I'm going to blog about my many shopping escapades. Whether it is a used book store, a thrift shop or a consignment shop-- I'm here to tell all about my experiences. When I find great stuff-- I'll let you know. I'm sending good karma to all the thrifty shoppers out there!

  1. I love candles, too. But I hoard them. I hate to burn them (plus I never seem to have an occasion that calls for candles) so I just keep stockpiling them. It’s getting out of control. I also have tons of cute glass containers for them. Those are piling up, too. It’s madness, madness I tell you!

When do you burn them, Jody?

    Kay in Hawaii

    1. I am a fellow candle hoarder!! However, I burn my candles quite a bit. It’s relaxing to watch tv in the dark with some flickering candles. Plus they smell good. I use them outside on the patio too. I recently got a few citronella candles but don’t really care for that smell. Luckily not too many bugs flying around me here in San Diego.

Cheers! And many thanks for stopping by my blog.

  2. I LOVE the candles in the lanterns. I think they are just the prettiest thing. Reminds me of those lanterns they used to use back in the day, the one Jack Sparrow uses on the 2nd Pirates when he goes downstairs to look for more rum. They are such a treat to see outside. Unfortunately here, the bugs are so darn bad, we almost can’t even sit on the back porch for long as the really tiny biting gnats get in through the screen and eat my husband. Poor man.

      1. That’s a steal! Every time I read one of your posts, I think I need to get down to the thrift shops. I have three just down the street, one on either side of me and one across the road. I really want an ice cream maker, but it seems when I go in looking for something in particular, I can never find it. It does seem to work that way…blast it.

      2. Sometimes you just have to visit the thrift stores with an open mind– ha. I keep a running list of what I’m looking for but lots of times it’s the unexpected that turns out best. Like the $9 jeans I found. Total surprise. Cheers and TGIF.
